ASSOCIATION OF INSURANCE INSTITUTES OF THE CARIBBEAN (AIIC)

ACHIEVEMENTS

The AIIC has sought to realize its objectives:
  • Close links have been fostered among the institutes and also with other bodies, such as the Chartered Insurance Institute who recognizes the AIIC as an institution capable of negotiating/speaking for the region

  • Several new institutes have been established-The Grenada Insurance Institute, the Insurance Institute of St.Vincent & the Grenadines, and the Insurance Institute of Bahamas. The newest institute-Insurance Institute of Antigua and Barbuda was launched during the 6th Annual Conference of the AIIC, which was held in Antigua last year. Efforts are being made to establish in other territories as well

  • Exchange of students and lecturers/facilitators is being facilitated by the organisation

  • Whilst the collection and dissemination of educational news and information has been taking place informally, the commissioning of a regional magazine would formalize that objective. Further a website has been set up by the AIIC, which will contribute positively to the process

  • Annual educational conferences

  • The Caribbean Insurance Professional Qualification (CIPQ) - The Caribbean Insurance Foundation Certificate (CIFC), the introductory programme of the CIPQ, has been launched and the first batch of students from the Saint Lucia Insurance Institute, completed the exams in 2003. Other territories due to complete the second subject are students of the Insurance Institute of Guyana, the Saint Lucia Insurance Institute, the Insurance Institute of Antigua and Barbuda. Students from Dominica, where there is no institute at present, are also included
